We made our yearly trek to the county fair last week. It was really an enjoyable day. Quite often we, as parents, are excited to take the kids out to do something, but the reality of it usually ends up being we have tired, whiny kids. Today was different and that was pleasant. On the way home, Mooky made the comment, "I guess you better enjoy your time at the fair before brother gets here." The comment came out of left field, but I think even she realized how amazing it was that we got away with a trip to the fair with no stroller or diaper bag and we barely even had to carry Pumpkin.
Our first stop was a Bengel tiger show. Mooky kept her hands over her ears the entire time. The tiger at our zoo is often quite vocal and Mooky was afraid these tigers might be as well. We all enjoyed the show and there was quite a bit of talk about it the rest of the evening. Tigers are one of my very favorite animals so I loved it!
Of course we went and saw the animals. As always the girls felt they would like to have a whole farm worth of animals. Mommy feels a little differently...I already have to deal with enough poop!
Amazingly, we were able to enjoy a few gluten free fair treats {snow cone, frozen yogurt, cotton candy, and corn on the cobb} and Pumpkin's little tummy handled it all. A seriously big praise there!
However, the real fun came when we found the kiddy rides. This year both of the girls were excited about them. We let them each choose three rides. They started off with the elephants and loved it!
Then it was on to the swings. They loved, loved that! Seriously, huge smiles the entire time.
Last, they decided to be a little daring and ride the dragon roller coaster. Not the slightly bigger one that a parent would have had to ride with them; the itty bitty one. Mooky loved it! Pumpkin {who is younger, but usually the more daring child} was completely petrified. We watched with baited breath, convinced that she was going to toss all that gluten free food. However, once Mooky looked over and saw the fear on her sister's face she turned into the sweetest big sister on the planet. She kept whispering in her ear, giving her kisses, and put her arm around her.
I think if you click on this picture you can see it larger and see the very different expressions on their faces.

what sweeties! Love love love them!
